Cork County Board needs to take blame for failings on the pitch
Waterford are building on the legacy of their team of the 2000’s with the likes of John Mullane and Tony Browne involved, whom the current U-21’s no doubt idolised as kids.
Where are our team of the 2000’s? A lost generation due to fallout with the county board.
They are inspiring figures and are our only All Ireland winners from this century and should be involved in some capacity.
Players come and go, some years better than others but the one constant in our decline is the board and its members.
In no other walk of life would the people who have helped cause this decline be the ones tasked with rectifying it but the Cork County Board is no ordinary organisation, currently worried only by having a new stadium to showcase RUGBY in.
The penny pinching over the years for the new stadium and not investing in under-age is really starting to hit now.
How long more are we going to put up with this? How much further are we going to fall before somebody says stop?
We are in serious danger of going from 10 years without Liam MacCarthy to 20.
It is time for clubs to select their best and brightest as club delegates, not some nodding dogs, blindly agreeing with every decision made by the top table.
After the All Ireland semi-final last year, the delegate from the Shamrocks club had the guts to challenge the board only to be shouted down by the top table.
Unfortunately it’s hard to know what’s worse, the attitude of some officers or the fact that no-one supported the Shamrocks delegate, but it’s an indication of the attitude that prevails.
It is along way to back to the top but surely the first step should be a clear out at board level.
Whether intentional or not you have ruined Cork GAA.
Please do the decent thing and resign.
