WhatsApp may add a Like button for images

WhatsApp is expected to add a few new buttons to the user interface. It’s thought that users will soon have a Like button for images as well as a ‘Mark as Unread’ button for messages.

WhatsApp may add a Like button for images

Ilhan Pektas, who is believed to be a WhatsApp beta tester, revealed these features on Twitter. He wrote that there will be a Like button for divided images on WhatsApp. This could indicate that users will be able to like profile images or even images within messages.

It’s also thought that users will be able to mark messages as unread. It’s unclear if this will grey out the double blue tick that the sender sees when you open a message, or if it will simply mark it as unread for you to refer back to later.

WhatsApp has been implementing new features of late. WhatsApp Web, its web browser platform, has been updated to allow users to alter their profile image or change their status.

After being acquired by Facebook, WhatsApp appears to be taking some cues from the immensely successful social media site.
