The 5 Best Pebble Time apps - get them now!
To add apps to the Pebble you just have to navigate to the appstore on your smartphone. Check out our list of the five best apps below.
There are tons of fitness tracking apps available for the Pebble but Misfit has one big advantage – it does its thing without the need to be paired with a smartphone all the time.
So once the app is installed it just does its thing, tracking your steps every day and passively taking note of your sleeping cycles. It’s the perfect distillation of everything that’s good about Pebble – simple and streamlined and it just works.
You can set goals for your daily activity and sleep goals and you’ll get a notification when you’ve moved around enough. You can also see stats for sleep and activity over the last seven days with a few simple clicks, and it even monitors deep sleep.
A companion app with more detailed stats and storage of data for more than seven days would be appreciated but the Misfit app is already a great addition to your wrist.
Timer+ is a stopwatch and timer for your Pebble. You may think that you’ll rarely have need for anything so simple but we’re constantly surprised by how often we use the app.
That’s mostly because it’s slick and easy to use, letting you easily set a countdown with just a few clicks. You can even exit out of the app and go about your business and it will flash back up five seconds before the timer ends.
It’s also easily one of the best-looking apps on the Pebble, making the most of the Time’s new colour screen with some great streamlined design choices which always make it clear which function you’re using and a subtle vibration as the timer reaches its goal. It’s a must-have, so get it now!
One of the best known names in fitness tracking has come to the Pebble Time, so you really have no reason not to get out running!
To get Endomondo working on Pebble you’ll firstly have to download the full smartphone app and set up some things, then grab the software for the Pebble. Once you start an activity on the main app it will automatically sync with the screen on your wrist and you’re ready to go.
On the Pebble you’ll see a host of information for your workout, including distance, duration, speed, pace and a whole lot more. You can also pause your run at any time (taking a second to snap a picture shouldn’t effect your time!) and also stop the activity entirely. That suite of controls makes it the most fully-featured fitness app available on the Pebble.
Once you stop, a huge amount of additional information is available via the main smartphone app but it’s great to be able to glance at your wrist to get just the important data.
Again, this app uses clever design to bring a surprisingly amount of functionality to your wrist.
Open the app and you can easily search for nearby restaurants or attractions. They’re listed depending on how close they are to you and clicking in gives you a few quick reviews from real people who have visited.
It’s a great way to get a short overview of places to see nearby and the app also includes how far away it is. Click in here and you’ll get an onscreen arrow which will take you directly to the premises, and all without taking your phone out of your pocket!
A spin-off from Foursquare, Swarm lets you check into locations as you move from place to place. The full app ties this in with social media tagging and recommendations for things to do in the area, as well as more social features.
On your wrist, Swarm is a much simple thing and in many ways that’s a good thing. Just launch the app and you’ll immediately see a list of nearby places to check into. With just two touches you can be checked in without any fuss.
The Swarm app shows off what’s possible when developers really think about Pebble integration – providing the necessary information and functionality without having to dive into complicated settings. And it’s always nice to see the message ‘you’re the mayor!’ in bright colours on your wrist!
