New iPhone could feature quicker charging

Apple is unlikely to shake things up too much with this year’s iPhone, but it could have one new trick up its sleeve.
New iPhone could feature quicker charging

According to a Twitter user who cites Chinese sources, the new iPhone will charge faster than its predecessors. It will supposedly support fast charging of at least 5 volts/2 amps. By comparison, the iPhone 6S’ figures are 5 watts/1 amp.

If accurate, this would bring the new iPhone more in line with fast-charging handsets such as the Galaxy S7 Edge.

Previous rumours have suggested that the iPhone will also feature a larger battery. This could put the iPhone in a pretty good place in terms of battery life.

Apple is expected to reveal the new iPhone on September 7.
