Motorola Moto G4 phones confirmed - Plus is the same size

The leak machine has been in overdrive over the last few weeks with details for upcoming Motorola phones, and now we have the official word.

Motorola Moto G4 phones confirmed - Plus is the same size

Two new handsets were just announced by the company, actually technically they were announced by Lenovo, who bought Motorola in 2014.

Anyway, the new phones are the much rumoured Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus. That naming convention would usually suggest that the second phone is more expensive and features a larger screen but things are a little different this time around.

Instead, the both phones have the same size screen - a 5.5 inch 1080p display - and the Plus refers instead to the presence of a fancier 16 MP camera and fingerprint scanning on the more expensive model.

It seems there's another model on the way too - a cheaper variant called the Moto G4 Play. It seems to have lower specs and will launch soon.

It's a slightly strange decision and one which could potentially cause confusion for customers, especially as they look pretty much the same. Otherwise there's a Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor on board and 2 gigs of RAM in the 16 storage option and 3 gigs of RAM in the Plus' 32 gig storage version.

Early reports on the phones are positive and it's thought the Plus will be launching soon. Probably the best news is the price point, with the Plus potentially retailing for around €200. It is set to launch in June 2016 in Europe.
