Inserting S Pen incorrectly could damage Galaxy Note 5

The Galaxy Note 5’s stylus slot and the way it’s designed could lead to users accidentally damaging their handsets.

Inserting S Pen incorrectly could damage Galaxy Note 5

Previously, it was only possible to insert the stylus into a Galaxy Note handset one way. The Galaxy Note 5 allows for the stylus to be put into the slot either way, but doing so could cause it to get stuck.

Once it’s jammed, Android Police found that one of two things will most likely happen. Either it’s stuck for good, or you may break the mechanism which detects whether or not the S Pen is attached to the phone when you do remove it.

That in turn can lead to other issues. If it can’t detect the S Pen, the Galaxy Note 5 won’t launch the S Pen menu if you remove the stylus when the screen is on, or the note-taking app if you remove it when the screen is off.

The correct way to insert the S Pen into its slot is point first. Unfortunately the Galaxy Note 5’s design means that if you push the blunt top end in first then you won't be met with any resistance.

Until Samsung finds a way to address this, you’ll just have to be careful when inserting the stylus into the Galaxy Note 5.
