Chinese electronics giant Huawei intends to invest in and expand its cloud computing services with a new division that will employ more than 2,000 people by the end of the year, as noted in a report from Reuters.

Referring to the annual Huawei Analyst Summit in Shenzhen, China, the report reveals the company has been promoting its new public cloud platform both independently and through partnerships with operators in a number of countries including Germany’s Deutsche Telekom.

Huawei last year stated that it would invest $1 billion in its new cloud service as it aims to compete with rival cloud platform providers like Amazon and Alibaba.
