HTC One A9 could feature ten core processor

Apparently octa-core processors are too humdrum these days. HTC could be pushing the boat out even further with the inclusion of a deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 SoC in the upcoming HTC One A9.

HTC One A9 could feature ten core processor

Leaked benchmark results indicate that the HTC One A9, otherwise known as the HTC Aero, will feature a ten core processor clocked at 1.96GHz. By comparison, today’s beefiest handsets come with octa-core processors.

It seems excessive at the moment. It’s unlikely that software has been designed with deca-core CPUs in mind. But it is a statement of where the smartphone market is headed. And, if nothing else, it’s something for HTC’s marketing to focus upon.

The Helio X20 won’t use all its cores at the same time. It will likely feature some fast running cores for power-intensive tasks, some slightly slower cores for normal tasks, and a much slower dual core setup for low intensity tasks.

The handset achieved a multicore score of 5884 in the benchmark, bettering the Samsung Galaxy Note 5's score of 5084, and the OnePlus 2's score of 4741.

HTC is hosting an event on September 29th when we may hear more about this device.
