Get ad free YouTube for a tenner a month
Put simply, it's a subscription service costing $9.99 a month which gives you premium access to YouTube. The main advantage will be an ad free experience, so all of those pop ups and pre-rolls and more will be gone. Beyond that, subscribers will get access to unique and original content and be able to enjoy them offline with dedicated downloading.
In addition, the music service formerly known as Music Key will be part of the package, making it easier to find the tunes you want and playing them back in a dedicated app that supports features people want - like being able to continue listening with the screen locked. Which would be a godsend. You'll be able to access YouTube Red on all platforms, including mobile, web and consoles.
Here's some trailerage.
The service launches on the 28th of October and will be in the US only to start with, and the company is making it clear that the free version of YouTube is still going to be around. Content on Red will include offerings from PewDiePie, features films, drama series, stuff from CollegeHumor and more.
There are also some new terms for anyone creating content on the service which forces them to sign up to YouTube Red, and we're going to hear a lot more about that in the coming months. Will you be signing up?
