Facebook could let you add filters and more to photos soon

Right now, Facebook has a pretty streamlined photo uploader - unless you include the bizarre auto-touchup button which we're assuming everyone ignores.

Facebook could let you add filters and more to photos soon

Well that could be about to change with the rollout of a new editor to select iOS users on the social media service. It adds filters and stickers to the mix, as well as the ability to place and resize any text you want. It's all in an effort to retain customers who are leaving for other services like Snapchat or Instagram, which put more focus on the visual side of the online experience.

The version in testing is supposed to be very like Snapchat, which would make sense given the growth of the newer company. And if Facebook can drag users back with some stickers and silly emoji.. well they'll certainly try. Users who have it will see a new vertical line on their photos and will be able to easily swipe to change to a new filter.

Press the magic wand button to bring up more options - including text to explain exactly what you were thinking in your latest pursed-mouthed selfie.

Will this work? It's impossible to say, but one fact definitely remains true - Facebook isn't Snapchat and it's impossible for any one site or service to be everything to everyone.

Check your Facebook app on iOS to see if you've received this update. As its in testing it's likely to be a limited audience and may never become a final feature.
