ePaper breakthrough opens the door for colourful Kindles
There has, however, been a breakthrough in ePaper technology. According to BusinessWire, E Ink Holdings has developed a high quality, full colour reflective display, dubbed Advanced Colour ePaper (ACeP).
This achieves a full colour gamut, including all eight primary colours, yet remains ultra-low power. Like other Kindle models, a Kindle using this display would still last on a single charge, and could be read outdoors in bright sunlight.
Amazon hasn't announced any plans, and may not do so for some time. It's believed that this technology will first be used for digital signage, but it could certainly make its way to E-readers in the future.
