BitTorrent releases photo transfer app Shoot

Rather than forcing people to pose as photos are taken on multiple phones, you could transfer the photo between the various devices. BitTorrent’s Shoot app, which is now available on Android, iOS, and Windows Phone, makes it easier to transfer photos and videos between devices.

The app lets you share batches of photos and videos with friends. But it’s also very privacy-conscious.

Shoot uses BitTorrent’s proprietary Sync P2P technology, which means that files aren’t sent to a server where hackers could access them. A unique QR code is generated whenever someone selects the files they want to send. Then the receiver just presses the ‘Receive’ button in the app and scans the QR code from the sender’s phone.

The app only works between mobile devices, and only photos and video can be transferred.

BitTorrent released a short video to show how the technology works.
