Mark Rylance, the British thespian who recently picking up a best supporting actor Oscar for this work alongside Tom Hanks in Bridge of Spies will be working with the latest performance capture technology to bring the Big Friendly Giant to life, and you can get a first look at how that is going to work in this new trailer.

It's pretty magical stuff and while the world around young Sophie (Ruby Barnhill) looks a little too plastic at the moment we're expecting it to improve over the next few months. And the giant himself features incredible detail, and the features of Rylance smiling out from behind those huge eyes. The story will see the BFG and Sophie teaming up to stop the other giants from invading our world. This is definitely going to be one to watch on the biggest screen possible, in the best 3D.

The other giants are played by the likes of Bill Hader and Jemaine Clement and the film had been in the works for a long time until Spielberg took on the job in 2014. See it in cinemas in July 2016.
