Lights Out video Interview- Producer James Wan
And it also has a pretty cool backstory with the feature inspired by a short directed by Swedish filmmaker David F. Sandberg back in 2013. Unusually enough, they also managed to bring Sandberg on board to direct it as first ever full length film!
It was there that James Wan got involves. He has directed films like Saw, Insidious and The Conjuring so he knows his way around a horror hit. Here, Wan talks about how he came across the short, working with Sandberg and a lot more.
Wan is really enthusiastic presence and it's great to see him getting involved in bringing other filmmakers into the fold, especially considering his own success with Saw more than 10 years ago which was originally produced for a mere $1 million.
Lights Out was made on a slightly higher budget of $5 million and has already made back close to $100 million. There's a good chance of a sequel but for right now you can look forward to seeing it in cinemas in Ireland from the 19th of August, 2016.
