Marvel president Kevin Feige has shown his appreciation for Ronda Rousey’s petitions to become Captain Marvel in the upcoming film.

Kevin Feige loves Ronda Rousey's enthusiasm for Captain Marvel part

Speaking with IGN, Feige said, “I love it. That happens occasionally, and I think that's a testament more to the strength of the characters."

Rousey first expressed her interest in the role during a Reddit AMA. Artists took to drawing up fan art of what she might look like in the role, which she then shared on her Instagram.

Feige said that it reminded him of the pre-social media days when actors would express their interest in parts in Wizard Magazine. “It's a testament to how great the characters are that it appeals to such a wide range of talented, talented people,” he added.

Rousey certainly has the physicality for a superhero part, but is somewhat new to the acting game. She’s had small roles in The Expendables 3, Furious 7 and Entourage, and is attached to star in Mile 22, the Road House remake, and her biopic.

Will a Marvel project be in her future? Feige’s comments imply that there may be some hope depending on how their internal discussions go.

“For us, it's sitting down with people and starting to meet people and as the script takes shape and as we start to build who the character should be and finding the right person to match it up.”

Don’t expect news any time soon. Feige said that there won’t be any announcements this year.

Captain Marvel will be released in November, 2018.
