RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 available on App Store - Features no in-app purchases!

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 is now available to download for iOS devices from the App Store.

The developer of the original RollerCoaster Tycoon games has ported the PC game to iPhone and iPad. One of its selling points, as sad as it sounds, is that there are no in-app purchases.

This may seem strange, but it needs to be remembered that one of the major sticking points for fans in Atari’s port of RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 was that it was laden down with microtransactions.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 is available for €4.99. You’ll need an iPhone 5s or later, or an iPad Air or better to play it. Early reports suggest that it runs well on supported devices.

This should tide fans over until the next instalment of a fully-fledged RollerCoaster Tycoon game. The next title is called RollerCoaster Tycoon World and it’s due out at the end of the year. It has changed development hands a few times though.

Meanwhile, Frontier is working on a spiritual successor called Planet Coaster: Simulation Evolved. That will be released in 2016, and may be worth waiting for.
