Nissan is turning the Qashqai into a video game controller

Nissan seems to be taking inspiration from Rocket League, as it will soon enable players to control Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 using the Nissan Qashqai.

Project Controller is described as “an interactive expedition to turn a Nissan Crossover into a Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 controller.” Nissan said that it had a team of car engineers, gamers, and UX designers working on ways to connect the Nissan driving interface to a PlayStation console “to create a new way to control Pro Evolution Soccer 2016.”

Nissan is the official global automotive sponsor of the UEFA Super Cup and UEFA Champions League, so that explains the tie-in with Pro Evolution Soccer. But we can’t help but feel there would be other games more suited to this control scheme, a driving game or Rocket League, for example.

The Nissan Controller will be launched during UEFA Champions League game between Malmö FF and Paris Saint-German on November 25th. Then, “football fans will get a unique opportunity to use Nissan Qashqai to steer their favourite PES 2016 players and experience a gaming innovation never seen before.”

You can find out more information about this unusual project on the Controller’s dedicated website or watch the video below.
