Homefront The Revolution release date and trailer
Honestly, we never expected to see a sequel to 2011's Homefront - an instantly forgettable first person shooter which traded on the fact that it was nominally written by Red Dawn and Apocalypse Now writer John Milius. But it's real, and it's almost here.
After numerous development delays where it moved from one company to another, the title will be finalised by Dambuster Studios who are working on their first game release. It's set in America after it was taken over by the Koreans, as a group of freedom fighters works to free Philadelphia from the grasp of the enemy.
Five years on and the sequel finally has a confirmed release date of May 20th 2016 on PS4, Xbox One and PC. There's an open beta coming exclusively to the Xbox One in February and a brand new gameplay trailer below.
The CryEngine tech is looking pretty good, but then it always does. In terms of the gameplay there seems to be a decent amount of variation as you fight back against the heavily armed invaders. Maybe this will be that rare sequel which takes the seed of a good idea and conjures up a superior game.
Homefront the revolution is coming in May 2016.
