United want Vidal to bolster midfield

Manchester United are lining up Chile World Cup star Arturo Vidal to join Ander Herrera in their new-look midfield.

United want Vidal to bolster midfield

The Juventus star has reportedly opened talks with the Premier League club and feels it is the right time to move from Serie A.

Portugal winger Nani has been mooted as a possible makeweight in the deal as United push for a cash plus player deal to persuade Juventus to sell.

United left-back Patrice Evra is also a player that interests the Turin club, but it is thought that new United manager Louis van Gaal wants him to stay as a mentor for youngster Luke Shaw, recently signed from Southampton.

The Chilean would cost in excess of £50m if no other player goes the other way.

United are also monitoring talks between Arsenal and their defender Thomas Vermaelen.

The 20-times Premier League champions are in the market for a centre-back following the departure of Nemanja Vidic to Inter Milan and the release of Rio Ferdinand.

Meanwhile, United yesterday confirmed Dutch coach Albert Stuivenberg will be joining the club immediately to work with Assistant Manager Ryan Giggs.
