O’Hara waiting on Irish call
Midfielder O’Hara, who scored in Wolves’ 1-1 draw with fellow Premier League strugglers West Brom on Sunday, has played for England at U21 level but is eligible for Ireland under the grandparent rule. Trapattoni has spoken about O’Hara, on loan at Molineux from Tottenham, but has yet to select the Dartford-born player.
“I’ve been injured for a while, so I haven’t really thought about it, but if I get a phone call then obviously that’s something I’m going to have to think about and discuss with the family because everyone wants to play on the international stage,” said O’Hara.
“I’m not sure if I can play but I’m definitely interested. I’ve got a big Irish family and they’re always phoning me up saying come and play for Ireland.
“But through the young ages I’ve always played for England, so I didn’t want to be disrespectful and say I’ll play for Ireland when I’m not 100 per cent. Now I’m 24 years of age and playing Premier League football on a regular basis so it’s something I’ll look at.”
