Murray attempts to get Rangers fans onside after ex-boss Smith drops bid

Rangers chairman Malcolm Murray has urged fans to unite behind the new regime after a Walter Smith-led consortium withdrew their interest in buying the club.

The former Ibrox boss confirmed earlier yesterday he would step aside after a £6m (€7.4m) offer to the Charles Green consortium was rejected.

Smith’s group revealed their interest in purchasing the stricken Glasgow giants last Thursday.
