Jack Wilshere: Arsenal ready to challenge next season

Jack Wilshere claims Arsenal finishing second in the Barclays Premier League would be evidence of a “massive progression” and will serve notice to their rivals that they will mount a serious title challenge next season.

Wilshere made his return to first-team action as a substitute in Monday’s 3-1 win at Hull after five months out following an ankle operation, and said the Gunners were determined to secure the runners-up spot behind Chelsea.

The England midfielder told Arsenal’s official website: “(Finishing second) would set a marker for next season and would be a progression from last year.
