Ireland’s women’s tandem pursuit pair of Catherine Walsh and Fran Meehan won gold at the Paracycling Track World Championship in Carson, LA yesterday.
The pair were in the first final ‘ride-off’ against the British pairing of Aileen McGlynn and Helen Scott and rode a superbly-paced race. The British duo led by almost a second by the halfway stage but Walsh and Meehan pegged them back and produced a storming finish to win the gold.
The men’s tandem of James Brown and pilot Damian Shaw won silver in the pursuit event.
