Millstreet to host European pony championships
The International Equestrian Federation (FEI) has confirmed to Horse Sport Ireland that the event will be held from July 30 to August 4.
When Millstreet was announced last month as the successful bidder, the dates were given as July 16-20.
HSI chairman Pat Wall complimented Millstreet’s Duggan family on securing the championships, and the HSI executive, who assisted in resolving difficulties with the FEI over the proposed dates.
He said: “Congratulations to the Duggan family, who have an outstanding facility and who put together an excellent bid. We have had great success in ponies at European level in recent years. Hopefully, we can do the business at home.”
Millstreet’s Thomas Duggan said: “We look forward to welcoming competitors and their families from all over Europe to compete at Millstreet... Many benefits, as yet unknown, will continue to accrue following these championships.”
Meanwhile, in Paris, France, Cameron Hanley, jumped a clear with Antello Z to reach the jump-off in yesterday’s Gucci Grand Prix, but a single error with the gelding saw the Mayoman place eighth.
