Lowry livid as clubs stolen at Naples airport

They might jet around the world to play in sun-kissed courses and earn wages of national debt levels but being a pro-golfer has its downsides too, as Euro Tour golfer Shane Lowry discovered last night.

The Offaly native is playing the Sicilian Open this week aiming to win a second European Tour event but his plans suffered a setback last night when he noticed his clubs went missing after he arrived at Naples airport in Italy.

The 24-year-old took to Twitter to vent his anger, tweeting: “I hope whatever KNOB who stole my clubs in Napoli airport shanks every shot for the rest of his life.”

But the despair was short-lived. He subsequently told followers “I suppose I was very lucky the boys from @ClevelandGolf were here this week to sort me out with new bats.” Great to have friends in high places.
