Ó Sé and O’Mahony give Fitzmaurice early boost

New Kerry boss EamonnFitzmaurice has been given an immediate boost by confirmation last night that veteran defenders Tomás Ó Sé and Aidan O’Mahony will make themselves available to the Kingdom again in 2013.

Fitzmaurice’s appointment has been enthusiastically welcomed within the squad, with the result that retirements will be few and far between — if at all.

Ó Sé will be 35 next June, and O’Mahony also 33 next year, but both see the appointment of their former playing colleague as a plus for Kerry football.

“The body’s still in pretty good shape, and I’m enjoying it, so the obvious thing to do is keep playing while I can,” Ó Sé said last night.

O’Mahony also confirmed he intended to continue into his 10th inter-county season. “I’m really looking forward to it,” said the Rathmore man.

“I went back training (with the club) the Thursday after the Donegal defeat and I’ve been really enjoying my football all year.”

Veteran stars Paul Galvin, Eoin Brosnan and Marc Ó Sé are also expected to rejoin Fitzmaurice’s squad for next year’s campaign.
