Henry takes end of championship streak on chin

A philosophical Henry Shefflin intends to quickly get over the disappointment of his 15-season record coming to an end — if injury prevents him from starting against Offaly on June 9.

The 10-time All Star has begun every one of Kilkenny’s 62 championship matches since he made his debut against Laois on June 20, 1999, the same day Brian Cody made his SHC bow as manager.

It’s a most impressive run, but Shefflin doesn’t intend dwelling on it for too long should he fail to take his place on the pitch in O’Connor Park.
