It was Brosna’s first final and nerves showed in the first half when the trailed 0-8 to 0-2. But with the wind to their backs in the second period, they made Listowel pay for ultra-defensive tactics when Don McAuliffe latched on to a breaking ball in the 48th minute and ghosted through for a goal.

Brosna were mopping up in the middle third, with Flor McAuliffe outstanding and, in the 50th minute, corner-back Shane Fitzmaurice levelled the contest with a point, 1-5 to 0-8. Then Mike Finnegan kicked Brosna in front in the 52nd minute, before Kennelly levelled with Emmets sole second-half score.
