Kinsale pay penalty for lacklustre start

By half-time, Cork and Munster champions Kinsale had a mountain to climb as they trailed by seven points, 1-4 to 2-8.

The sides were level at 1-3 apiece by the 20th minute but St Maurs then hit 1-5 without reply to gain the upper hand. Laura Carthy scored the game’s opening goal in the ninth minute and while Aoife Keating’s major was an equalising score for Kinsale, St Maurs took over until half-time.
