Cork U-21 jobs go to Barry and Hodgins
Bride Rovers clubman Barry and St Finbarr’s clubman Hodgins, who is a former senior All-Ireland hurling medal winner with the county, will fill the vacancies created by the departures of Teddy McCarthy and John Mortell from their positions.
McCarthy is taking up the position of Laois senior hurling manager while Mortell has moved to a new role as Cork minor hurling selector. The announcement was made at last night’s county board meeting with Barry and Hodgins set to join Inniscarra’s Darragh Holland and Glen Rovers Don Cronin as selectors under Fitzgerald.
There were no further developments as regards the identity of the next Cork minor football manager. Chairman Jerry O’Sullivan informed delegates last night that the committee was continuing to work on finding a successor to Brian Cuthbert and hoped to have further news at the next county board meeting.
