The first Cork County Board meeting of the year drew a large attendance to the Nemo complex at Trabeg last night, but much of the planned agenda suffered due to extended votes of sympathy.

With the last regular meeting of the board having taken place at the end of November, tributes were paid to John Corcoran, JJ Long, Fred Sheedy, John Young, Frank Keaney, Eric Philpott, and Peter Downey among others, all of whom had died in the interim.

As a result, almost an hour had elapsed since the 8.30pm start before regular items could be attended to, with the progress report, Central Council report and Munster Council report all postponed until the next gathering on February 23.
