Brian Cuthbert’s Rebels ‘the most defensive Cork side I’ve seen’

Jim Gavin claims Brian Cuthbert’s side on Sunday were the most defensive Cork team he has ever seen. 

Despite the defeat, he was satisfied with several elements of Dublin’s performance.

“Cork got two shots off (at goal) in 70 minutes of football, which is pleasing. The goal came from a mishit from Daniel Goulding that caught our backs unaware.

"I think defensively we were quite structured, midfield we did okay. We played against a very defensive system, the most defensive I’ve ever seen Cork play, and it was pleasing we created so many chances.”

Gavin knows the defensive style is en vogue. “There are trends being set and coaches pick up on different trends that were being set and that’s just one of them.”
