LISS Na Tintri, so unlucky last time, can redress the balance in the Munster Supporters’ Club Mares Maiden Hurdle at Limerick this afternoon.
At Punchestown last month, John Kiely’s charge was produced by Davy Russel with what looked to be a winning run heading to the final flight.
But she met the obstacle all wrong and paid the price, in a contest eventually won by Spare Shilling. That was an uncharacteristic error and Liss Na Tintri should now prove hard to beat.
The 13th April Student Raceday Hurdle is best left to Paul Nolan’s Point Of Light.
He made a promising enough start over flights, and in this country, when fourth to Capellanus at Gowran Park.
A son of Pivotal, Point Of Light won six times in-a-row on the flat for Mark Prescott in England last season and the drying ground is hardly a minus.
Prunella Dobbs’ Our Girl Sally gets the vote in the Rockview Mare’s Ladies Bumper. She was a beaten favourite on this track last time, going under by half a length to Paul Nolan’s newcomer, Another Cliche.
Time may well reveal, however, that trying to give two stone to Joncol’s half-sister was an especially difficult task.
At Limerick tomorrow the Listed Dawn Omega Milk EBF Novices’ Hurdle promises a fascinating battle between For Bill and Morning Supreme.
For Bill has never been beaten, in point-to-points, bumpers or over flights, but this is easily her stiffest test to date.
Her latest display was impressive, cruising to an easy three lengths defeat of Morning Supreme’s stable companion, Killultagh Queen, at Clonmel.
Morning Supreme has won in a canter twice over hurdles, at Limerick and Cork. She loves to bowl along in front, but For Bill to cut her down in the closing stages is the prediction.
Glenlo Abbey has to be the choice in the opening Mother’s Day Maiden Hurdle. Successful in a bumper at Gowran Park over a year ago, he is entitled to come on plenty for his recent third to The Book Thief at Fairyhouse.
At Navan tomorrow Pat Hughes’ Caduceus gets the vote in the stamina-sapping Irish Stallion Farms’ EBF Novice Hurdle.
He took a modest enough heat by 13 lengths at Naas, but should prove even more effective steeping up another four furlongs in trip.
