Good opportunity for Great Wisdom

Thursday, May 06, 2010

AIDAN O’BRIEN, who doesn’t send too many horses to Clonmel, could provide a winning nap in the shape of Great Wisdom in the featured 2010 SEPAM Tipperary Perpetual Cup Handicap at the track tonight.

The four-year-old would be a real family success, as he is owned by O’Brien’s wife, Annemarie, and will be partnered by their son, Joseph.

The Rock Of Gibraltar colt is clearly no star, but has only run five times, so has some scope for improvement.

He won his only race as a juvenile, at Dundalk, and was then seen just once the following season.

This campaign, however, he has already had a busy time, running three times. The first two were poor enough displays, in testing conditions, but the selection stepped up on those efforts on a quick surface at Leopardstown subsequently.

He finished third behind Haralan and Beau Michael, in a contest which has been working out quite nicely.

Beau Michael scored over fences at Limerick on Monday, while the fourth at Leopardstown, Bravely Fought, defied top weight on the level at Cork on Friday evening.

Bohola Lady gets the vote in the Lynch and Partners’ (Solicitors) Maiden, which is far more open than this type of contest normally is.

John Hanlon’s mare showed her liking for fast ground when winning a Gowran Park bumper back in October.

She was then absent until reappearing at the Punchestown Festival last month, when allowed take her chance in the Champion Bumper.

Bohola Lady was far from disgraced, finishing 9th of 17 behind Hidden Universe, beaten some 15 lengths, and is now fancied to build on that.

Taradoun looks the safest bet in the Coolmore NH Sires Beginners Chase, even if he did disappoint behind Final Question here in February.

But Taradoun has since been afforded a decent break and has easily the best overall form of any of these.
