Trading up: Upper Rochestown, Cork, €595,000

No, you’re not seeing things if you go whizzing out the country road from Rochestown’s monastery and school towards Monkstown, and see what looks like three very identical takes on the same house.

There are, funnily enough, several of these very similar dormer designs.

One after another, albeit well spaced out, and all on large sites.

The one called Brentwood is up for sale, having been a corporate rental for period, and is listed with Mark Rose of Rose Properties, who guides the 3,000 sq ft detached at €585,000.

Built in 2007 by the well-regarded Callanan Construction, it’s on a three-quarter acre site with good road frontage about a mile past Rochestown College, and is faced with Liscannor stone and some brick detailing, with slate roof.

It’s finished inside and outside to an extremely high standard, says Mr Rose, with a wide apron of paving and parking.

The same paving continues around the side to a south-west facing sun room and rear patio, while inside is a kitchen, dining room, and two reception rooms, each with fireplaces.

The kitchen is high end, with black granite worktops and stepped island/breakfast bar, Neff appliances and American fridge freezer. There’s a utility plus guest WC, and the hall has a feature cascade pendant light from the landing above.

Upstairs, two of the four bedrooms are en suite, one has a walk-in dressing room, and there’s a roll-top freestanding bath in the family bathroom.

VERDICT: A bit of landscaping would set it apart.
