Trading up: Minane Bridge, Carrigaline €330,000

First it was geese, out at the Lough in Cork City that appeared in photographs taken by estate agent James Colbert when he put a lovely period home at 2 Warburton Villas to market last month and which now has gone over its €325k guide, under offer now at €352,000 for a well-feathered nest.

Now, this month the same Midleton-based agent is again straying off his home turf of East Cork, as he brings a 2,100 sq ft bunglow at Granig, Minane Bridge in South Cork up for sale... and this time, his main house image includes some of the home owner’s guard dogs, especially a territorial Jack Russell.

You might think the selling agent for this €330,000 property’s a Dr Dolittle with animal attraction, but in fact he’s had run-in with the geese, who attacked him at the Lough, and now the Jack Russell at Granig Minane also voiced his displeasure at the intrusion.

Just wait until viewings start: he’ll be barking.

“We put a sign up last Friday and within a few days and even before going on line we received eight calls to view: it’s a hidden gem,” says Mr Colbert of the five-bed modern bungalow, on a mature site of 0.6 of an acre, in a very popular rural area close to Carrigaline and the sea.

A dormer home, it has main living room, kitchen with dining section and family space, and one of its five bedrooms is en suite.

VERDICT: Dogged pursuit needed.
