Lots of space for home comforts in Youghal

Trish Dromey is impressed with this extensive, extended, and lavishly-appointed home in Youghal, Co Cork.

Youghal, County Cork €595,000

Size: Sq m 270 (2,906 sq ft) +chalet

Bedrooms: 4

Bathrooms: 3

To add some extra home comforts, the owners of this four-bed detached house at Mullarie near Youghal in East Cork went that extra mile and built themselves a games chalet with a pool table and a six-person Jacuzzi.

Also in the interest of comfort, they fitted an air to water heating system with six heating zones and achieved a toasty B1 energy rating in the main house.

And in order to provide themselves with as much living space as possible, they recently put in a two-bed detached guest chalet in the garden. This gave them an extra 1,000 sq ft of space in addition to the 2,900 sq ft they had created while building their steel-framed home in 2004.

Seeking offers of €595,000 for the extra-roomy property and its 1.33 acre site, Conor Spillane of DNG Spillane says that no expense has been spared on the standard of finish.

Describing it as being in turnkey condition, he’s expecting it to attract the attention of Cork city buyers, possibly executives working at companies in Little Island or Mahon Point.

“It’s an idyllic family home and is situated five kilometers from Youghal, just a 35 minute drive from the city,” he adds.

Behind each of the bay windows at the front is a timber floored living room — one has a timber fireplace, the other a redbrick fireplace with a stove. To the rear, there’s a large tiled kitchen dining room with cream units and marble countertops, as well as a utility room and a guest WC.

Overlooking a garden at the rear is a TV room, which is open plan with sunroom with a wood pellet stove in the corner.

The upper level has a bathroom and four timber-floored bedrooms with timber ceiling beams including one with an en-suite.

In the grounds, there’s a tarmac drive and extensive, lawned gardens, in addition to a detached block-built garage.

The timber guest chalet has a bathroom, a kitchen/living area with fitted units and two bedrooms. The timber games chalet has a full-sized pool table and a large Jacuzzi.

VERDICT: extra comfortable and extra spacious.
