US is anything but a ‘united’ States

I wish to make one point in the aftermath of the school shooting massacre in Newton, Connecticut, and following President Obama’s latest speech in regard to some drastic initiatives that will need to be implemented to revamp the personal firearm laws of America.

US is anything but a ‘united’ States

Due to the fact that each of the ‘United’ states is a separate entity and jurisdiction, with different laws enforced by different governors and administrations, it would seem virtually impossible to legislate for what is effectively 50 different independent governments and countries. The term ‘United States’ bears no resemblance to the fact that America is anything but united — I would hazard to call it the ‘Not so United States of America.’
