That nukes that argument

Denis Duff (Letters, May 29) believes we should at least consider nuclear energy as a potential source of power.

That nukes that argument

There is no need for this consideration as the electricity, which has been flowing into Irish homes for the past year, has been partly sourced from nuclear plants in Britain, some less than 100 miles from Dublin.

The East-West interconnector integrates the Irish and UK electrical grids and a significant portion of the UK grid is derived from nuclear energy. Ireland develops wind energy while Britain develops nuclear energy and both states operate off a single grid.

Heed not the Irish councillors as they do not understand what they are talking about!
