I’ll take a job vetting politicians’ expenses

Monday, September 06, 2010

IN response to Eamon O Cuiv’s proposal to make social welfare recipients work for their entitlement, I’ve been unemployed for two years and I’ve written to him volunteering to work in the Standards in Public Office Commission.

I believe recent events have shown SIPO is utterly unfit for purpose.

I believe I have the skills and enthusiasm required and I’d be delighted to take a non-paying role and use their facilities to conduct a thorough investigation of all TDs’ expenses.

I can start immediately and the minister can have no objection as it was his idea in the first place.

In fact, I’d go as far as to say no one should be forced to take up a position until a patriotic volunteer like myself has had his genuine offer accepted.

I will notify you if Mr O Cuiv doesn’t accede to my request and maybe you could ask him why he’s refused a cost-free offer of service to the state.
