I totally agree with Fianna Fáil leader Michéal Martin that Ireland should be given an opportunity to vote on the European Fiscal Treaty.
His words, however, would carry a much greater ring of conviction if it weren’t for the fact that his party, while in government, twice ignored the democratically expressed wishes of the Irish people in the Nice and Lisbon Treaty and repeatedly put the motion to the electorate until the desired result was returned.
