IS Tom Brett really serious when he says that Irish greyhounds will be looked after by Irish trainers and kennels hands in China (April 22)?
I assume to make this financially viable we are talking significant numbers of greyhounds, so are we to conclude that there will be a large number of these people emigrating to China? If anyone has any doubt about what happens animals in China they can do a web search. It is not pleasant, but it is indicative of what awaits our defenceless dogs.
Fine Gael is a long-time supporter of this industry and the decision to approve this venture by the Department of Agriculture will indicate whose interests are best served, ie the party or the animals’?
