Looking ahead - Expressing confidence

IN one of the more positive responses to the recession, Dunnes Stores opened a new flagship store in Cork’s St Patrick’s Street yesterday.

It was a €30 million expression of confidence in the future by the company’s managing director, Margaret Heffernan, who said that despite “the most difficult trading environment she had ever experienced” she was certain the enterprise would succeed and that the 200 people employed there would have secure jobs.

Dunnes has long been one of the country’s foremost retailers. This position has been achieved by courage and confidence.
