Fire crews bring major blaze on Cork's northside under control

Cork firefighters have brought under control a major blaze which broke out at a commercial premises on the north side of the city on Saturday night.
Crews from both the Anglesea Street and Ballyvolane stations responded to calls about the fire at the Ashgrove Recycling facility in Churchfield.
It is understood that the blaze caused significant damage to some buildings at the facility and destroyed a number of vehicles.

Photos posted on social media show two lorries at the site completely engulfed in flames.
In a statement this morning, Cork City Fire Brigade confirmed that its firefighters were able to successfully bring the fire under control, and to prevent it from spreading to other buildings in the area.
The exact cause of the fire is not yet known. No injuries were reported.
