Autographs from Dayan to Pasternak
The extraordinary collection of autographs gathered by Skibbereen based Michael O’Sullivan in the late 1950s and ’60s, with everyone from Konrad Adenaur to Moshe Dayan, Archbishop Makarios and Boris Pasternak, Field Marshall Montgomery and the Duke of Windsor, Anthony Eden and Clement Attlee, comes up at Whyte’s sale, aptly entitled The Eclectic Collector, in Dublin next Saturday at 11am.
There is something for every type of collector in this auction of over 800 lots which includes sporting memorabilia, travel and exploration, posters, militaria, photographs, medals, coins and old banknotes. The most expensively estimated is a letter from Boris Pasternak at €1,000-€1,500, with the signatures of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor estimated at €800-€1,200.
The highlight of the film posters section is , the third James Bond movie, estimated at €2,000-€3,000. The auction is on view at Whyte’s, Molesworth St., Dublin at 10am to 5pm daily from next Wednesday.
