Waterford Whispers’ praised for satirical photo by Washington newpaper
It was created āwith the noble aims of extracting the urine from everyday news and media eventsā but satirical website Waterford Whispers News has won praise from one of the worldās most respected mainstream media outlets for one of its latest posts.
Earlier this week, a small Jewish ultra-Orthodox newspaper, HaMevaser, made headlines around the globe after it photoshopped German Chancellor Angela Merkel from a photo which showed world leaders linking arms to march against terrorism in Paris following last weekās killing of 17 people there.

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo and the European Unionās foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, were also cropped out, leaving a picture which only featured men.
No stranger to finding a satirical angle to even the most serious news story, Waterford Whispers News decided to create an image in which all the men were cut out of the picture leaving the large Paris street empty apart from the three women.
The move won praise from the Washington Post, which said the WWN version was āthe best response to HaMevaserās version of the Paris marchā
āLike much of the best satire, thereās a sad element of truth behind it,ā the Washington Post blog said: āLast year, the Inter-Parliamentary Union said women made up just 21.8% of national legislators around the world, while just nine out of 152 heads of state (5.9%) were women.ā
