The internal auditor of CCVEC has raised concerns that the authority is not getting value for money or picking the cheapest provider.
An audit revealed:nStaff were brought all the way to Tralee for a training seminar it ran, despite its headquarters in Ballincollig also being suitable for such events. The event in Kerry cost €5,625 plus the travel expenses for the staff.
* A removal company is earning €377 a month to store furniture for CCVEC five years after the body moved into its new home in Yeats House.
* A review of a single contract for school books revealed the VEC did not pick the cheapest tender, despite an overall difference of €640.
