Tragic twist after fatal farm accident

Seamus Hegarty and Kevin Woods, both 52, went to school together, were raised together and worked together all of their lives.
The Co Donegal farmers perished when a tractor tyre burst killing both men on a farm at Crossroads, Killygordon, on Friday evening.
Both men would have been buried today.
However, the burial of Mr Woods has been delayed as some relatives have to come from overseas to attend his funeral.
Mr Hegarty, a father-of-four from Cloughfin, Ballindrait, will be laid to rest after funeral Mass today at 11am at St Patrick’s Church in Murlog, Lifford.
Hundreds of people have been attending both men’s wakes as the tightly-knit community tries to come to terms with the tragedy.
Local priest Fr Edward Kilpatrick has visited the homes of both men whom he described as “upstanding, honest and decent men”.
“They were true neighbours and friends and were committed to their community, their families and to each other as friends.
“When Seamus needed help with his cattle, Kevin helped him, and when Kevin needed help then Seamus helped him.
“People are finding it very difficult to come to terms with this tragedy and simply cannot find the words to describe the sadness that we are all feeling at this time.”
A Health and Safety Authority investigation has concluded but a report into the tragedy has yet to be released.
