Little did he think as he was unclasping a world record-breaking number of bras at breakneck speed that he’d be big in Japan.

But nimble-fingered fashion store owner Sean Murray’s world-beating bra feat could be about to feature on one of Japan’s biggest TV stations this month.

Producers working for Japanese TV production company, Collaboration Inc, have sought permission to screen the Irish Examiner’s video of Mr Murray’s 2013 charity stunt in his shop in Skibbereen on one of the country’s most popular TV shows, The World’s No 1.

If his clip makes it on to the show, it will be seen by a potential TV audience of some 10m people.

“I certainly didn’t think it would get this big,” Sean admitted last night.

He set out in October 2013 to break the record for opening as many bras as possible in a minute, using just one hand, to raise funds for a breast cancer charity.

He spent months honing his technique on mannequins and on some willing female staff before unclasping 91 double-hooked bras with one hand in a minute — smashing the previous 69-bra record set by Dutchman Dennis Storm in 2012.

Sean said he is working on another charity stunt for later in the year. “It will involve undergarments but it will involve two hands this time,” he said.
