Receiver appointed to properties

SEVERAL properties linked to Limerick solicitor Paul O’Brien — including a number of well known Munster retail units — have had a receiver appointed to them by NAMA.

Receiver appointed to properties

In response to a query, a spokesperson for NAMA confirmed that last Monday it appointed Grant Thornton to “a number of assets” linked to Mr O’Brien including shopping centres in Waterford, Clonmel and Limerick.

In such situations, the receiver would look to secure and ultimately sell the properties with a view to recovering whatever debt they can for NAMA.

The businesses using them would continue to rent the properties from the next owner.

The properties include:

* Showgrounds Shopping Centre, Clonmel on 5.44 acres.

* 6 shop units and 2,000sq ft storage at Racefield Centre, Limerick.

* 4 retail units at Doughiska Shopping Centre, Galway.

* Newtown Shopping Centre at Annacotty, Limerick.

* Supermarket unit at Ashdown Village, Limerick.

* 5 retail units at Castletroy Court, Limerick.

* The Brasscock/Ballinakill Shopping Centre, Waterford.
